Automatic receipt reporting sound like a utopia. But with the Eurocard app, automation with digital receipts is not only possible – it is also very simple.
The potential benefits of automation are big. As receipt management is facilitated by better digital tools, employees' motivation to report more often and more accurately increases. This in turn increases the opportunity for companies to save a lot of time – and money.
The fact that automation promotes efficient receipt management, is also concurred in the report Time is Money by The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, produced on behalf of Eurocard. The more steps of the accounting process that are automated, the more time can be saved – time that is better spent on the core business. However, automation can’t be done without transaction data and good digital tools for the employee. And offering new, improved digital tools for their customers, is something that Eurocard is working on.
A big step in that direction was the launch of digital receipt management, which we call Smart receipts. With Smart receipts, corporate customers can save and send scanned copies of paper receipts after a purchase, directly in the mobile app. This reduces the need to handle large quantities of paper receipts manually. In the latest version of the app, users can also opt to upload pdf receipts from stores that offer this service, thereby getting rid of the paper receipt completely.
The next step is making the app even more user friendly, among other things developing support for sending receipt data in several formats. This work has resulted in a new functionality that is currently being tested by selected customer companies.
”The goal in development is to achieve even higher levels of automation, and even less timeconsuming manual work for both employees and administrators. We are confident that it will increase both convenience and efficiency for many companies,” says Mads Krumhardt Enggren, head of Eurocard Corporate.
”It's a matter of when, not if, the last paper receipt has been printed and stapled to a travel expense report. And we want to be in pole position when that happens.”
