Pay with your card

Here we have gathered everything you need to know about how to pay with the card.

In-store

  • What is a contactless payment?

With contactless payments, the card is read when you hold it up to the payment terminal, without the need to swipe or insert the card into the terminal.

    NFC symbol

When you see the symbol on a payment terminal, you do not need to insert the card, you simply hold it up to the terminal to pay.

If you make a purchase larger than 350 kroner, you need to enter your PIN code. If you shop for less, it is enough to “blip” it.

  • How do I make a contactless payment?

Making a contactless payment is easy, you just need to hold the card close to the payment terminal.

When paying, hold the card up against the payment terminal. When you hear a beep, the payment has been made.

    • You can make contactless payments for up to 250 kroner without a PIN. But as an additional security measure, you may sometimes be asked to enter your PIN code, even for smaller purchases.
    • If you have several cards in your wallet that support contactless payment, you need to take out the card and hold it separately to the terminal when you pay.
  • How do I activate my card for contactless payments?

Contactless payment will automatically be activated the first time you make a payment at a terminal with chip and PIN. If you do not wish to have this service on your card, please contact Customer Services.

  • What is a digital wallet?

A digital wallet can be an app on your mobile phone, a smart watch, a tablet or a PC. It keeps your cards in order and gives you an overview when you shop online or in a store. MobilePay is an example of a digital wallet.

Choose which card you want to pay with and move it to the top of your digital wallet. You can always choose which card you want to use when paying.

  • What is MobilePay and how does it work?

MobilePay is a digital wallet that makes it easy, fast and secure for you to shop online.

    MobilePay

Register your Eurocard into MobilePay and approve your purchase by entering your mobile number. If you shop via your mobile phone, you don’t even have to enter your phone number, the app opens automatically and you approve the amount with a swipe.

Stores who display the symbol on their website accept MobilePay as a payment method.

Online

  • Can I close my card for online purchases?

Yes, you can deactivate your card for online purchases if you have one of our private cards. You can close the card completely for online purchases by logging in to My Eurocard and manage your settings under Card Services / Purchase Settings. Corporate cards cannot be completely blocked for online purchases.

Whatever card you have, we recommend that you keep the preset setting; Safer online purchasing. This way your card is always activated for online purchases affiliated with Mastercard Identity Check and for subscriptions such as Spotify and Netflix. Purchases on other websites may be declined.

If your payment in an online shop is declined, you will receive an SMS with information on how to activate the card to make a purchase. Therefore, make sure you have your mobile phone available and that you have registered your mobile number on My Eurocard. This way your card can be activated for one hour for online shopping, and your purchase can be completed.

You are always protected against financial losses – whether you choose to keep the card activated permanently, or just for a while - as long as you have handled the card in accordance with the terms and conditions and have not been negligent.

  • What is Mastercard Identity Check?

Mastercard Identity Check is a global security standard to which many online stores are associated. This means that you confirm your purchase online with BankID or with a one-time password via SMS.

You don’t have NemID? Contact your bank, online bank or nemid.nu to activate NemID. More information on NemID can be found at nemid.nu.

Log in to My Eurocard to check that you have the correct mobile number registered with us.

  • What is a CVC code?

The CVC code is the three-digit code to the right of the signature strip on the back of your card. The CVC code is often required to make online purchases for safety reasons.

  • I am trying to make an online purchase, but the payment is declined. Why?

We have introduced a new security measure for online purchases to protect our customers from fraud. Certain online stores may require you to activate your card to make a purchase, and this could be the reason an online purchase is declined.

For future online payments, it is important that we have your mobile number. If you attempt to shop on a site that is not considered safe by us, you will receive an SMS. By replying to it, you activate your card for online payments for up to one hour. Then you need to make the purchase again.

The next time you shop online, you can send the same SMS before you shop, which will activate your card for online shopping for up to one hour.

  • How do I make safe online purchases with my card?

Use Eurocard and not a bank card that is linked to your account. This way you can check all transactions before paying the invoice.

Keep in mind when using the card online:

    • Never enter card numbers, codes or personal information in any context other than when you pay.
    • CVC is the three-digit code to the right of the signature strip on the back of the card. It is often requested for security reasons when paying online.
    • You can also log in to My Eurocard and choose to open or close your card for online purchasing.- Many stores inform about their safety rules on their websites.
    • If you are charged incorrectly, you can contact us to make a complaint.
  • How do I open my card for purchases online?

Unless you have chosen "Only in-store purchases” on My Eurocard, your card is always activated to make online purchases affiliated with Mastercard Identity Check, and for your subscriptions (e.g. Spotify and Netflix).

In other online stores, you may need to activate your card to make a purchase. This is easily done by replying to the SMS that is automatically sent to you if a purchase is stopped by us. You can also choose to activate your card for online purchases in advance by logging in to My Eurocard.
